Stories Are Our Medicine
Every community has a story, and every story carries the power to heal.
Healthcare isn't just about statistics or clinical guidelines, it’s about people, culture, and sovereignty. Through film, we illuminate the vibrant landscape of Indigenous health: the dedicated professionals reclaiming their pathways, the tribal programs redefining holistic care, and the collective wisdom driving our communities forward. We create these videos to honor where we’ve been, showcase where we are, and inspire the next generation of Indigenous health leaders.

Learn more about Dr. Shelby Shelder
Dr. Shelder is a full-time independent physician at a tribally run clinic with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Health System in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In this film, we learn about Shelbie’s roots as an Indigenous woman pursuing medicine, the culture shock she endured transitioning to rural medicine after her residency in Seattle, and the community she found in connecting with We Are Healers.
Sustaining The Circle
Every time a Native student sees someone who looks like them in a white coat or leading a community clinic, the impossible becomes achievable. We don’t just clear a path—we ensure that every healer who walks it turns around to lift up the next generation
