Healers Community Circle
The Healers Community Circle is a year-long We Are Healers cohort program for Native students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, public health, allied health, and other areas of healthcare. HCC brings together future Native health leaders in a supportive, relational space centered on mentorship, peer connection, professional growth, and community. Cohort members build relationships with other Native students and health professionals, receive support as they navigate their education and career pathways, and complete a community-centered project connected to their healthcare goals. The program helps students remain connected to who they are, where they come from, and the impact they hope to make as future healers.

Community Project
Each HCC cohort member works toward completing a community-centered project during the program year. These projects support students in using their growing knowledge and skills to contribute to the health, wellness, and priorities of their communities.
The community projects are opportunities for students to share knowledge, strengthen community connections, and contribute to culturally grounded health, wellness, and learning. Past projects have included ribbon skirt, beading, and quillwork circles; traditional foods cooking classes; informational and educational resources, websites, podcasts, and brochures, academic publications, and presentations; plant medicine walks; and collaborative art shows centering on and celebrating identity.
Mentorship and Community
Mentorship is a central part of HCC. Cohort members are paired with mentors who can offer guidance, encouragement, and perspective as students move through their educational and professional journeys.
The cohort model also creates space for Native students to learn from one another, celebrate milestones, ask questions, and build long-lasting relationships with others who understand the importance of Native representation in healthcare.
