Meet Hailey Baker (Cherokee Nation), Healers Community Circle Mentor
Hailey Baker (Cherokee Nation) is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School, graduating in 2025 and soon entering residency. Raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Hailey is committed to returning to Tribal communities to improve healthcare access and quality, particularly in obstetrics and gynecology.
As a former 2023 Healers Community Circle cohort member, Hailey made a profound impact by advocating for Native health policies through the American Medical Association (AMA), where she authored and co-authored multiple resolutions addressing critical issues, including AI/AN infant mortality, urban Indian health programs, and access to pharmaceuticals through the Indian Health Service. Her leadership earned her the inaugural Emerging Leader in Tribal Public Health Award and the John T. Wolf M.D. Outstanding Native American Medical Student of the Year Award from the Association of Native American Medical Students (ANAMS).
Now, as a Healers Community Circle mentor, Hailey will be a wealth of knowledge and support to our student cohorts, helping to guide the next generation of Native healthcare leaders. Her expertise in policy, advocacy, and medical education will be invaluable in empowering future healers.
