Savannah Lukkes (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe) 2nd Year Medical Student

Savannah Lukkes is a second-year medical student at UC Davis School of Medicine, and is dedicated to improving healthcare for Native communities. Growing up in Rapid City, South Dakota, she witnessed firsthand the disparities affecting Indigenous health, inspiring her to become both a healer and an advocate.

As a Tribal Health Community Health Scholar, Savannah researches the perinatal and postnatal needs of Indigenous birthing people while leading efforts to foster mentorship and cultural connection. Her cohort project will establish a mentorship program at UC Davis, linking Native undergraduate students with Native medical students to build a strong, supportive academic network rooted in cultural identity and resilience.

Through her leadership and passion for Indigenous health, Savannah is committed to ensuring future generations receive the care, representation, and support they deserve.
