Tyria Heath (Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican, Menominee) 2nd Year Medical Student

Tyria is a 2nd-year medical student at Oregon Health & Science University, passionate about uplifting Indigenous voices in healthcare. She holds a B.A. in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience from Grinnell College and an M.S. in medical nutrition from Arizona State University. After completing the Wy’east post-bacc program at OHSU, Tyria set her sights on becoming a physician dedicated to culturally responsive care. 🩺🌿

In the Healers Community Circle, Tyria is bringing her podcast project, Stories from the Medicine Wheel (working title), to life. Through interviews with Indigenous clinicians, researchers, medical students, and community knowledge keepers, she’s creating a space to highlight how cultural identity—language, traditional medicine, ceremonies, and community values—shapes healthcare. Her goal? To inspire Native youth to see themselves as the next generation of healers and advocates. 💫

When she’s not studying, Tyria enjoys playing basketball, beading earrings, reading, and spending time with her bernedoodle puppy.
